Britons value their home contents more than themselves, because more have contents insurance than critical illness insurance, according to Scottish Provident. Research carried out on behalf of Scottish Provident has revealed that while 71 per cent of UK adults have home contents insurance to protect their belongings, only 15 per cent have critical illness insurance to protect themselves against serious illness. Whilst it is advisable to protect belongings and contents as Christmas approaches and homes fill up with expensive presents, Scottish Provident warns against neglecting critical illness insurance, which provides a lump sum payout in the event that a serious illness is diagnosed. Apart from the fact that nearly half of respondents have life insurance, Britons are not protecting themselves enough, the study found; nine per cent have income protection insurance, and even fewer, just five per cent, have unemployment benefit, leaving them vulnerable to current volatility in the jobs market.

Homeowners Insurance For Your New Home
0Homeowners insurance is one of the most important things to take care of when you move into a new home. You should make sure if you get the right amount and coverage. Even when you move into another house in the same neighborhood with your old house, there are so many things that could affect the amount and coverage of your homeowners insurance that could make it different than your old policy.
For some reasons maybe you purchase your new house through a mortgage loan, and usually the loan company requires you to have homeowners insurance that meets their needs. There would be some differences between the insurance amount and coverages the loan company requires and your needs. The loan company might not require you to cover your valuable belongings such as jewelries, pieces of art or other objects, but of course you need to cover them for your protection. So make sure you have a policy that pleases everybody.
Consider having life insurance that can cover your mortgage payment.

Earlier this year, the website recommended that homeowners look at their home insurance policy to see if it covers accidental breakages caused by guests, which could be important when friends and relatives are expected over the festive season. Read more…
