Travelers can have MEDEX complaints if a claim is denied or if they are not satisfied with the service they have received.  When this is the case, and the policy was purchased through Squaremouth, the traveler has an advocate on their side.  This is because every policy comes with the Squaremouth Zero Complaint Guarantee.  This is a promise to mediate any customer complaint.  Unless the travel insurance carrier resolves the complaint to the satisfaction of Squaremouth, that carrier will no longer be listed on the website.

In Switzerland, health insurance, which is backed by the state, will now cover five types of complementary medicine until 2017 after the government issued a new ruling. There will however be an independent investigation of whether or not they work.

In 2009 there was a referendum in the country and 67 per cent of the electorate balloted in favour for complementary medicine to be covered by health insurance . The five therapies to be offered are homeopathy, herbal and traditional Chinese treatments, anthroposophic medicine, which among other techniques uses mistletoe to treat cancer and neural therapy, which is based on injecting local anaesthetics near nerve centres.

However in December, according to a scientific panel, acting on behalf of the Swiss government, the methods used did not meet objective measures of efficiency. This is considered to be unlawful, as health insurance is required by law to pay only for such treatments. Read more…

Important work overseas requires the best protection you can find. Missionary travel insurance helps you when you are busy helping others. Miss it off your list and you could find yourself in serious trouble.

When traveling and working overseas, a medical emergency could jeopardize your mission and your life. Help from a reputable travel insurance policy could be the difference between being able to continue your work and having to return home – less well off in terms of both money and well-being.

If you’re traveling for between five days and 24 months, consider short term insurance. Alternatively, take out long term insurance if you will be working outside your home country for one year or more. You’ll

Cuts in investment in flood defences as a result of the Comprehensive Spending Review could make homes near rivers and the sea uninsurable and would seriously affect their value.

The UK is among one of the few EU countries which does not provide automatic flood insurance with a home insurance package. The industry’s agreement with the government, which runs out in 2013, states that cover must be provided as long as defences are kept in good order. However, homeowners are concerned that cuts to promised flood defences in vulnerable areas will invalidate insurers liability.

More than a million homes across the country are affected, including parts of London as well as coastal, riverside and other major city locations. Lack of available flood insurance would render the properties at risk of losing at least 40 per cent of their value and it would also make it difficult to raise a mortgage on homes that are situated in vulnerable areas.
