First off, Kaiser’s doctors are good in SW Washington. I have absolutely no problem with them as every doctor that has treated myself, my wife, or my son have done a superb job and have shown great care.
However, the problem with Kaiser is their administration. Complete morons. I have no clue how they get anything done there. It’s not just one thing, but a series of stupid things they do that is absolutely maddening.
For example, every time you go to the doctor, check in for an appointment, call on the phone, pick up a prescription, do ANYTHING at all with them, they require that you verify your name, date of birth, home address, work phone, home phone, whether you have secondary insurance… This may not sound bad, but seriously try imagining this garbage EVERY single time you do anything with them. Say you’re on hold forever, which is common, get someone on the phone, the first thing they do before ANYTHING is get all that info, then they figure out they can’t help you and before you know it, you’ve been transfered 5 times and have verified your information each time.
Billing. Oh my gosh. So say your family is covered on YOUR policy. Say your wife goes in and gets some bloodwork done and then gets a bill in the mail. YOU can’t call them and talk to them about the bill, your wife has to do it. I pay the bills, I make the money, I provide the coverage, but I can’t talk to them about the bill they sent to my wife. Hello?!?!?!?!
I’ve been so irritated with them so many times I can’t even remember all of them, but it’s just a huge cluster of stupid, little things that drives me nuts. I can’t stand dealing with Kaiser.
If you have a choice, stay away from them!
